Afton May Fair!

"A 2-Day outdoor fine arts and traditional crafts fair in a picturesque setting on the St. Croix River Valley

Fine Arts - Crafts - Live Music - Great Food - Family Fun"

The Afton May fair was all that and more for my little family, as it was our first introduction to our new residence of Afton, Wisconsin, a tiny but well-known town nestled next to several other little towns along this side of the St. Croix River.  But far more than the other towns it touches, this place is packed with history and community involvement.  And for the size, it has the highest quality businesses, parks, tourism, historical society, and beauty I've ever seen.  And I've heard others say it has one of the biggest July 4th celebrations in Eastern Minnesota!

Eddy and I caught both days.  After having a blast Saturday, we just had to drag "daddy" along to experience it too (and get some good pictures).  Dan wouldn't get in until mid-afternoon, so little guy and I grabbed some breakfast at a cafe and strolled a little, checked out a little church in the area, went home, then before Dan got there, we hooked up the bike and rode on into the fair.  After the rendezvous, we did all the fair things and strolled the town, commenting on each storefront.  Later we just sat at the end of a dock and cooled off from the scorching humidity 100 yards away. (I can't tell you how long it's been since the three of us just sat outside for any reason)

God has blessed us in our Craig's List home.  The right set-up, size, spot, neighbors, and now the right town.  What more could we ask for.
Eddy shot to this booth every time we got within a stone's throw.
The Happ-E Hill Farm Kiddie Train -- some happy-go-lucky farmer built this and zigzagged kids all over the fair.

A great conversation piece with Eddy also: the balloon basket he so wanted to try!
Guess where that came from.
